The first part of this book, happily the longest, was a great build-up. Astrid is a sympathetic character, but I had to make a list of the names (and occupations, if any) of the rest to keep track of who is who. The atmosphere was well written and the story keeps you reading.The second part, and I hope it's not a spoiler, was a great letdown. I wonder whether these parts were written separately, perhaps the first by Nicci and the second by French. In any case, the coincidences were just not believable and the character/narrator a cardboard cut-out. The final resolution was just too pat for my taste. Too bad. But I think I will try another book by this team and hope it will be good all the way through.

Was recommended by my sister who is a good judge of writers but I guess we all miss the mark at times.
I chose 3 stars as I thought the ending was a bit loose, I would however recommend as a good read.
Great book for the murder mystery crowd
Another good read from one of my favourite authors. Having grown up in London, I recognise the shared flat scene from those days and it takes me right back there. Tension was maintained throughout the story and the ending was a surprise.
Wow! What an incredible book. Love this author. Never disappoints. Never would have guesses who the killer was. Loved the killer's point of view when telling his rendition of things. Sorry when I came to the last page. Wish it would've gone on and on.
I would have rated this book as four-stars if it were not for the very rushed ending. The first 95% of the books flows very well, with lots of twists and turns (in true Nicci French style). But the end came very fast and seemed rushed, leaving far too many questions unanswered.
